Two of Meštrović’s sculptures can be found on this square that you are standing on. In front of the main entrance to the Croatian National Theater, the grand yellow building, is a sculpture called - The Well of Life. It shows people of various ages crouching around the well of life which symbolizes eternal youth. In front of the Faculty of Law you can see another sculpture - The History of Croats. A woman sitting in a folk costume and holding a large stone slab inscribed in the old Croatian Glagolic script created in the 9th century to help spread Christianity among Slavic nations.
She represents the guardian of Croatian heritage and history.
